You have got to be kidding me! No way was he getting my car for another 6 months, so I said no. I was called by Steve 3 days later and told to bring my car back so they could repair my side mirror which was broken. Two days later I happened to check the fluids and there were no fluids in the car, oil, transmission fluid, or anti-freeze, which I bought and put in the car. Okay, I'm not that familiar with cars so I said okay. I was told that it was probably because of the car sitting for so long. I called the shop back to inform Steve, that there was a problem with the car. After driving about 1 mile my car was running like a mack truck. I immediately drove to the gas station to fill up my car. Upon asking Steve the manager at this shop for a bill he said "Don't worry about it, we will take care of you", then I left.
When I got to the shop they could not find the keys to my car! Good thing I had an extra set at home, which I had to go back and get. This was February 2, 2009, I did not get my car back until August 6, 2009, yes six months later and several promises to take care of me and my car. I decide after talking to Gary and making a financial arrangement with him to pay another $350 to repair the car (which was a 1999 Ford Taurus with about 135,000 miles on it). A proper diagnostic on the car from the beginning would have determined that and I would not have paid $2,300. That would mean that I made $700 off the sale of my car? Vinny admitted on a phone conversation that the engine was bad from the first day I brought it to him but had difficulty determining that. He suggested that he can change the engine, sell my car for approximately $5,000, and then he will take $2,000 for the cost of the engine, and give me the rest. I requested a $2,300 refund, which they will not provide. Vinny now claims that the engine needs to be replaced. During the first week, he changed numerous sensors, but the car is still lacking acceleration and shakes severely. Vinny claimed that whatever the problem is, he would fix it for free.
The car was left running this time, after paying another $1,300, the car shut off by itself. When I arrived to pick up my car the second time, Vinny had changed three catalytic convertors instead of two, this indicated to me that the original two did not fix the issue so he changed a third. I towed it back to Midas, now claiming it is not only the air intake, but two catalytic convertors collapsed which will cost me $1,300. Two days later, on February 3, 2010, the car broke down again. I called Vinny and informed him he said it was all due to ripped intake. It was lacking acceleration, and was letting out a massive amount of smoke from the exhaust after I picked it up.
